He shows a passion for student-athletes and collegiate athletics in each broadcast with the ThunderVision crew. Kinsey serves as the broadcasting voice for West Texas A&M volleyball, football, basketball and softball while also spending time in the booth at soccer, baseball and track. Elder, who also received the Jake Trussell Award in 2012, also serves as a history professor at ENMU. When not broadcasting games for the LSC Digital Network or radio, Elder hosts a radio show and sports program and interviews student-athletes, coaches, and administration, giving listeners and viewers a glimpse into ENMU athletics. In addition to his coverage of home games, Elder traveled to all the away football and basketball games to provide coverage for local radio station 106.5 FM. A member of the Eastern New Mexico Hall of Honors, he has been the play-by-play broadcaster for football, men's and women's basketball, and baseball. The highlights are very popular with fans to keep up with the Javelinas.Įlder, who was honored for the second time, has been the voice of the Greyhounds for over two decades. A member of the LSC Hall of Honor, Nuesch publishes the Javelina Highlights every week to cover all aspects of TAMUK Athletics.
Nuesch is in his 54th year with Texas A&M-Kingsville and marked his 22nd season publishing the Javelina Highlights. The Jake Trussell Award for Broadcaster of the Year is in memory of the late Jake Trussell of Kingsville who broadcasted contests for Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Kirk Hill Award for Sportswriter of the Year is named in honor of the late Kirk Hill of the Houston Post who won the first award in 1963. The awards, which recognize those who best promote the LSC and its members through their work in the media, are selected annually by sports information directors at the LSC's member institutions. Nuesch earned the Kirk Hill Award as the outstanding sportswriter of the year, while Elder and Kinsey captured the Jake Trussell Award as the league's top broadcasters. Sportswriter Fred Nuesch and broadcasters Donald "Doc" Elder and Lucas Kinsey received the 2022 Lone Star Conference annual media awards, announced by league officials Thursday at football preseason media day in McKinney, Texas.
